Powerhouse Mobile App – Terms of Use

By downloading, accessing or using the Powerhouse App (the App), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the App. If you do not agree, or subsequently withdraw your agreement to these Terms of Use, you must immediately cease using the App.

The App is provided by Powerhouse to support and enhance your experience before, during and after your visit to Powerhouse.

The App may provide access to features including museum and visitor information, exhibition and collection content, maps and wayfinding, personalised experiences, notifications, ticketing or event information, and other digital services.

Features and content may be changed, added or removed as the App develops.

You may use the App for personal, non-commercial and lawful purposes.

Some App features may require you to create or sign into a Powerhouse account.

You are responsible for keeping your account information accurate and for maintaining the security of your account and device.

Your profile may be used to provide App functionality and, where applicable, personalise your experience.

You must not access another person's account without permission or use an account for fraudulent, unlawful or inappropriate purposes.

Unless otherwise stated, content available through the App – including text, images, photographs, video, audio, designs, collection information, trademarks and other material – is owned by, licensed to, or used with permission by Powerhouse.

Your use of the App does not transfer ownership or rights of this content to you.

Some collection material may have specific copyright, cultural, Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property, licensing or usage restrictions. Any notices displayed with particular content should be observed.

We aim to provide accurate and up-to-date information, but museum programs, exhibitions, events, opening hours, locations, availability and other information may change.

We do not guarantee that the App or saved information will always be available, uninterrupted or error-free, including during updates, maintenance or technical changes.

Where appropriate, visitors should check current information before relying on the App for their visit.

The App may use your device's Bluetooth and location services to provide maps, indoor positioning, wayfinding and location-aware museum experiences.

You can manage or withdraw these permissions through your device settings. Some App features may not work, or may have reduced functionality, if Bluetooth or location access are disabled.

Location accuracy

Indoor positioning and wayfinding are provided as visitor aids and may not always be precise or up to date.

Signals can be affected by your device, Bluetooth availability, building conditions, crowds and other environmental factors.

Visitors should not rely solely on the App for navigation or safety-related information and should continue to follow physical museum signage, accessibility information, staff directions and safety instructions while visiting Powerhouse.

The App may contain links to or integrate with services operated by third parties, such as maps, ticketing platforms, websites or other digital services.

Those services may be subject to their own terms of use and privacy policies. Powerhouse is not responsible for the operation or content of third-party services except to the extent required by law.

Additional terms imposed by Apple App Store, Google Play or other application distribution platforms may also apply to your download, installation and use of the App.

Your privacy is important to us.

Any personal information collected through the App will be handled in accordance with applicable privacy laws and the Powerhouse Privacy Policy.

The App may request access to certain device features or information where required to provide particular functionality. Where applicable, you will be asked for permission through your device.

If you choose to enable push notifications, location services, camera access or other device permissions, the App may use those permissions to provide relevant functionality.

You can manage these permissions through your device settings.

Disabling a permission will not prevent you from using unrelated parts of the App, although features that depend on that permission may no longer work as intended.

The App is provided for informational and visitor-experience purposes.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Powerhouse does not accept responsibility for loss or damage arising from your use of, or inability to use, the App.

Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded under applicable Australian law.

We may update the App and these Terms from time to time, including to reflect changes to App functionality, legal requirements or Powerhouse services.

The current version of these Terms will be made available through the App or Powerhouse website.

These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia.
