Conservation Manager

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced & driven Conservation Manager to join The Powerhouse Collection Team. In this role, you will be responsible for setting the vision and strategic direction for the conservation and care of the Powerhouse’s nationally and internationally significant collection. The Conservation unit is responsible for the care and management of the collection according to standards appropriate to Australian conditions and in accordance with legislative obligations, strategies and actions and in line with accepted National Standards. The team has major responsibility for ensuring the preservation, maintenance, conservation, storage and protection of the collection. Conservation develops policy outlining the high-level principles and guidelines that the Museum follows to achieve its aim of caring for and protecting its collections.

The Learning Manager - Programs leads the development of learning programs across Powerhouse sites, including the Lang Walker Family Academy. The Lang Walker Family Academy is a world-first immersive STEM-based overnight experience for students in Years 5-12 at Powerhouse Parramatta. The role will be responsible for co-designing and developing the student learning experience with industry and academic experts, developing professional learning and teaching resources and experiences that connect to new exhibitions and a range of events as part of the Powerhouse Program, and selected NSW syllabus.

The Senior Exhibition Designer is responsible for developing creative three-dimensional concept designs to deliver the Powerhouse program. The role will work with internal and external collaborators to design and deliver creative design outcomes for exhibitions, major installations, programs, visible collection storage, event, and experiential design projects; this includes identifying, developing, and maintaining Powerhouse’s established standards of design excellence.

The Exhibition Project Coordinator works in close collaboration with the exhibition project teams, under the Head of Exhibition Delivery to develop and deliver exhibitions across Powerhouse Parramatta, Powerhouse Castle Hill, Sydney Observatory and Powerhouse Ultimo. This role works with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the delivery of high-quality projects on schedule and within budget and position the Powerhouse at the forefront of contemporary museum practice.

Visitor Experience Volunteer
Volunteers play a significant role in enhancing the visitor experience at Powerhouse Ultimo, Sydney Observatory and Powerhouse Castle Hill. They actively promote visitor engagement by initiating conversations, narrating stories in the exhibitions, collaborating in guided tours and facilitating interactive activities.
Museum Research Volunteers
Volunteers support staff in researching recently acquired objects in our collection. This role involves working with museum staff and volunteers on-site or virtually across a range of activities related to recently acquired objects.
