Powerhouse is the largest museum group in Australia. It sits at the intersection of the arts, design, science and technology and plays a critical role in engaging communities with contemporary ideas and issues. It is custodian to more than half a million objects of national and international significance and is considered one of the finest and most diverse collections in Australia.
Programs are currently presented at Powerhouse Castle Hill and Sydney Observatory during construction of our new site Powerhouse Parramatta and the revitalisation of Powerhouse Ultimo.
Powerhouse Parramatta
Located on Dharug land, Powerhouse Parramatta is one of the world's most significant new museum projects.
Powerhouse Ultimo
Located on Gadigal land. A revitalisation program is underway to deliver expanded museum exhibition and learning spaces within a new dynamic creative industries precinct for Sydney.
Powerhouse Castle Hill
Located on Dharug land, a storehouse for the collection supporting research and conservation, presenting exhibitions and programs.
Sydney Observatory
Located on Gadigal land, a national place of connection and scientific research.

History
Powerhouse Museum has ‘always looked, Janus like, both backwards and forwards’. A museum is more than the physical container that holds it, it is everything that gets us to this moment – the past, the present and the future pressing up against each other; interleaving, and always in conversation.
