Come Home Again

Over 11 nights, acclaimed British artist Es Devlin presents her large-scale installation and choral performance, Come Home Again for the first time in Australia. Developed in collaboration with Australian scientists, composers and community voices, the intimate and monumental installation integrates drawing, sculpture and light.

Come Home Again features 244 hand-drawn depictions of vulnerable, endangered, and critically endangered species from NSW, identified in consultation with the Botanic Gardens of Sydney.

Sydney Chamber Opera will perform two new compositions specially commissioned from local composers: Yuwaalaraay musician Nardi Simpson’s Stamus in Semper: We Stand on the Always responding to Anton Bruckner’s historic ‘Locus Iste’ (1869) and Jack Symonds’ Radiant River, responding to ‘Locus Iste’ and a Cantata originally commissioned for the opening of the Sydney International Exhibition in 1879, held in the Powerhouse Collection (opens in new tab).

Western Sydney choir River City Voices, intercultural singer collective Barayagal, and Noqu Vanua Choir, will join Sydney Chamber Opera each night to perform the new musical commissions.
