Palate Atlas: Sweets
1.30–3pm
$30Standard
This program involves a small tasting as part of the workshop. Due to the nature of this event, we cannot accommodate dietary and allergen requests.
Through a panel discussion and tasting, guests will discover how sweet snacks – from Levantine maamoul to Malaysian kuih lapis – express pleasure, care and ritual across cultures, while exploring their historical, social and religious significance.
Following the discussion, guests will learn to make Syrian maamoul in an intimate hands-on workshop in the Vitocco Family Kitchen with Racha Abou Alchamat of Racha’s Syrian Kitchen.
The program is inspired by Palate Atlas: Sweets, part of a zine series by Powerhouse Made™ and Powerhouse Food that traces food culture across Western Sydney, exploring how a single ingredient transforms through different dishes, techniques and traditions.
The Palate Atlas zines will be available at Powerhouse Store.
Recommended for ages 12+. Under 16s must be accompanied by a participating adult.
