Teacher Academy: Speculative Horizons is designed specifically for English teachers working with Years 7–12 students and maps directly to the NSW English syllabus outcomes. Particularly relevant to teachers of dystopian, post-apocalyptic and speculative fiction, the program brings together internationally acclaimed author Emily St. John Mandel, Task Eternal, one of the opening exhibitions at Powerhouse Parramatta, and insights into practical creative writing from author Ceridwen Dovey.
The program will also be valuable for teachers of English Extension 2, offering insight into the writing process and practical approaches to supporting students as they develop and refine their Major Works.
Morning tea, lunch and refreshments will be provided on the day. Attendees will also receive a signed copy of Emily St. John Mandel’s new novel, Exit Party.
Teacher Academy is a program of events designed to recognise the important work teachers do across the education sector and empower them as creative designers of learning.
