galang Residency
Established in 2023, the galang residency program supports First Nations artists and creative practitioners to undertake residencies at the Cité internationale des arts in Paris.

‘I feel excited to have been selected for the 2026 galang Residency Program, this opportunity comes at a crucial point in my career and will support me to create international networks that will inspire and further develop my practice-led research. I can't help but also recognise the strength and work of my Elders, who inspire me everyday. I look forward to going to Paris and being able to share this experience with my family and community.’
Powerhouse in partnership with the Cité internationale des arts (Paris) presents the program again in 2026, offering two Australian First Nations creative practitioners an opportunity to travel to Paris for a 3-month residency hosted by the Cité.
The prestigious program, now in its fourth year, is open to First Nations creative practitioners working across a range of disciplines including, but not limited to, visual arts, design, weaving, performance, dance, music or writing. Applicants must be 18 years or older and be an Australian citizen or resident with a valid passport.
The residency includes return economy flights to and from Paris, accommodation in Paris at the Cité internationale des arts and per diems for food, project materials and travel within Paris.
