Powerhouse + OMA AMO
Powerhouse Parramatta is collaborating with world-renowned architecture firm OMA and its research studio AMO to create one of its foundational opening exhibitions. Led by OMA’s Managing Partner, David Gianotten, the exhibition will explore the evolution and cultural significance of the shopping mall.
This exhibition will draw on OMA/AMO’s decades of expertise in retail architecture and their seminal research, The Harvard Guide to Shopping. It will also incorporate the Powerhouse Collection and key industry partners (to be announced), presenting a dynamic look at how malls shape modern life.
In addition to the exhibition, a suite of programs will engage audiences in conversations around the mall’s global impact and its future in Australia. Powerhouse CEO Lisa Havilah noted, 'We’re thrilled to partner with OMA/AMO to develop an exhibition that will connect with visitors through history, architecture, and culture, all within the context of retail’s ongoing transformation.'
David Gianotten emphasised, 'The mall is a complex space, intertwining architecture, economy, and society. This exhibition will unpack those layers and invite new perspectives.'
