Powerhouse Photography is an annual program dedicated to amplifying Australian photography and lens-based practice through programs, commissions, acquisitions, publications and learning. Powerhouse Photography is supported by funds generously donated by the Australian Centre for Photography.

Powerhouse invited EOIs from both emerging and established photographers working across all fields of practice. Applications were sought from photographers with experience producing architectural photographs and/or lens-based architectural projects with a focus on construction, urban development, housing, infrastructure and sustainability.

The successful applicant will be engaged to develop and deliver the commission in collaboration with Powerhouse. It is anticipated that the commission will be produced over a period of up to 12 months. The terms of the commitment will be flexible to accommodate the photographer’s continued professional practice.

Tasha Tylee is a New Zealand born, Naarm/Melbourne based Architectural Photographer. Tasha predominantly works with analogue film taking a slower and more deliberate approach to documenting spaces. Her unique process to colour and tone aids the viewer to experience spaces intimately, without feeling like an onlooker. Tasha is drawn to design that sits harmoniously within the environment and is interested in working further in the field within sustainability and innovative design practices. In a short period of working in the industry as an Architectural Photographer Tasha has achieved working for some of Australia’s top firms, has projects published with leading publications and commissions receiving multiple awards. The highlight being capturing Naples Street House by Edition Office the 2024 AIA National Winner of The Robin Boyd Award for Residential Architecture.

Focusing on themes of sustainability and climate, Tasha Tylee will document innovation in architecture and the Australian built environment by following newly developed sustainable materials from their natural form, through to manufacturing, fabrication, installation, and their final use in a completed build.
