Recipes As Art
11am–12.30pm
$30Standard
This program involves a small tasting. Due to the nature of this event, we cannot accommodate dietary and allergen requests.
Explore the stories behind a recipe and how food and art can preserve culture, memory and creativity.
As part of a collaboration between Food For Everyone and Powerhouse Made™, artist Marikit Santiago created an original artwork of chef Kylie Kwong AM and food educator Bhavna Kalra Shivalkar’s Indian-Chinese recipe of Hakka Noodles with Chicken and Hari Mirchi Sauce (as highlighted in the Powerhouse Food: Little India program). The artwork and recipe now feature in a limited edition Food for Everyone print that celebrates the recipe as a work of creativity, history and cultural knowledge.
Santiago, Shivalkar and Kwong will join Cheyenne Bardos in conversation to discuss Indian-Chinese cuisine, the creative process and the value of documenting recipes. Guests will try a tasting of the dish following the panel discussion in the Vitocco Family Kitchen.
The print will be available at Powerhouse Store and Food For Everyone’s online shop. For every print purchased, Food For Everyone donates 10 meals to food relief organisation SecondBite.
Recommended for ages 12+. Under 16s must be accompanied by a participating adult.
