WE’VE Waka presents an introduction to Māori weaving alongside skilled professionals in a drop-in workshop. Take part in making miniature puhi-rere feather streamers like the full-scale versions being created by expert weavers for a new waka (watercraft) commissioned by Powerhouse. Te Waka Whakakotahi (Waka of Unity) will be used to celebrate the opening of Powerhouse Parramatta later in 2026.
WE’VE is a multi-year program to support, present, collect and amplify Pacific and Indigenous cultural weaving practices.
Recommended age 12+ years. Under 16 must be accompanied by a participating Adult.
