This 1-day workshop is designed for learners aged 7–9.
This program uses specialised engineering kits containing small components and magnets. While the kits will be used under direct supervision, we recommend that parents and carers discuss safe handling and potential choking hazards with their children before attending.

Explore the opening of Powerhouse Parramatta through an engineering lens.
Inspired by the building’s iconic steel exoskeleton, learners will investigate how structures are made strong, stable and able to carry heavy loads. They will examine different materials and ways of building, using the Powerhouse Parramatta building and objects in the opening exhibitions as inspiration.
Through hands-on experimentation, drawing activities and building challenges, learners will test how things work – making and improving their own designs to discover how engineers use creativity and problem-solving to turn ideas into solutions. Working together, they will experiment with materials, explore forces and stability, and have fun designing, building and testing their ideas.
