Powerhouse Young Writers' Challenge with Andy Griffiths
Calling all aspiring writers! Write a creative story in two pages or less that features an object selected by Andy for the Powerhouse Materials: Paper exhibition.
Are you the next Andy Griffiths? Do you have a story to tell?
The Powerhouse Young Writers' Challenge invites NSW primary school aged children to produce a creative story, inspired by objects selected by Andy Griffiths from the Powerhouse Collection. Submit your story and you will be invited to a Powerhouse Young Writers' Challenge event held at Powerhouse Castle Hill with Andy Griffiths in March 2026.
Your story must feature at least one of the objects in the exhibition. If you can't come and visit in person, choose one of the following objects to write about:
Stories can be typed or handwritten, they can include pictures, as well as other text types such as comic strips, lists, diagrams, and maps. Submissions must be two single-sided A4 pages or less.
For inspiration from Andy Griffiths, here are three Super Short Stories he wrote for three other objects in the exhibition.
Submissions close on 1 February 2026. Upload your submission to the Powerhouse Young Writers’ Challenge here.
The Powerhouse Young Writers' Challenge will also be delivered with selected schools in Western Sydney, more info here.
