Powerhouse Academy: Stitch Studio

Recommended for those aged 12–15.
We’re calling all crafters, sewers and makers to join this workshop to learn a variety of simple embroidery stitches and fabric decoration techniques. Using these techniques, participants will make and decorate their own stuffed bear or horse to take home. This full-day workshop will include time to explore the Powerhouse Materials: Textiles and Future Fashion exhibitions, as well as a behind-the-scenes experience to discover how textiles items are collected and cared for.

Powerhouse Academy is a new program of school holiday workshops launched in April 2025. This accessible event series focused on Western Sydney brings together young people and connects them with the Powerhouse Collection (opens in new tab) along with experts from industry and academia.
