Industrial designer David Caon, Hassell and Industrial Design Xchange (IDX-SYD) host an industry afternoon at the Advanced Manufacturing Readiness Facility (AMRF) in Bradfield, Australia’s newest city.
This industry-led program showcases the cutting-edge manufacturing facilities at AMRF, where local designers can learn about new production methods. Located in Bradfield’s award-winning First Building designed by Hassell in collaboration with Djinjama, AMRF offers shared facilities and independent advice to help businesses accelerate from prototyping to production. This afternoon of talks, tours and demonstrations uncovers world-leading developments in manufacturing capabilities and opportunities for innovation in the Australian design industry.

Workshop tours led by AMRF’s expert technicians demonstrate the design opportunities unlocked by the tools and processes of each onsite machine.
3pm and 4pm
Architectural tours by Hassell explore the modular systems and circular economy principles of Bradfield’s First Building.
4.30pm
IDX-SYD host talks on new technological frontiers and the ways advanced manufacturing is advancing design practices. Speakers include Dr Sam Bucolo (Australian Design Council), Dr Marissa Lindquist (WSU), Steve Milanoski (formerly of SpaceX) and designer Caity Duffus.
6.30pm
Leading industrial designer David Caon in conversation with Powerhouse senior curator Keinton Butler. Caon will announce a major new design commission created in collaboration with AMRF and Powerhouse.
