Remathau: People of the Ocean

Remathau follows Dr Nicole Yamase’s journey as the first Micronesian and Indigenous person (and only the second woman in history) to dive to the deepest part of the ocean, Challenger Deep, in the Mariana Trench. When Dr Yamase surfaces from the trench, she is met with a storm of media attention. Feeling the immense pressure of her historic expedition, she begins a deeper dive into her own identity as a Micronesian and descendent of great navigators. This film also includes navigators Nainoa Thompson and Thomas Raffipiy, and forest restorationist Jermy Uowolo.
