Holidays – 2 December

Youth Makers Market 10am–2pm
Browse the stands, chat with creative local young people and maybe take home an original artwork, delicious treat or crafty creation. Presented in partnership with Handy with Scissors.

Picnic Play! 10am–4pm
Join our Picnic Play! with picnic baskets, tea sets and blankets, and help us make toy food from found materials.

Travel Postcards with Laura Carey 10.30am–3.30pm
Team with artist Laura Carey to create your own postcards to share a heartfelt message or holiday adventure. Drop-in activity.

Holiday Snaps 10.30am–3.30pm
Create your best holiday outfits and accessories out of paper and cardboard. Grab a snap in our holiday-themed photoshoot with friends and family. Drop-in activity.

Mystery Object Challenge 11.30am and 2.30pm
Calling all budding historians, archaeologists and curious minds. Test your sleuthing skills in this family-friendly game to see if you can identify our mystery objects. Drop-in activity.

Meet the Mars Rover 1.30pm
See a quarter-scale replica of the Mars rover Curiosity in action. The original was designed to explore the red planet, collecting samples and images. Hosts will answer questions and talk about autonomous robotics.

Discovery Walkthrough: Dream Holiday 11am, 1pm and 3pm
Do you yearn for sandy soles, adventure or faraway destinations? Design your dream holiday inspired by Powerhouse Collection objects on this 30-minute guided tour.

Curator Tour 12pm and 2pm
Join Curators Anni Turnbull and Alysha Buss on a tour of current exhibition Holidays.

Please note there are no food or drink facilities on site, but you are welcome to bring a picnic lunch and blanket to enjoy the lawns. 

Entry to Powerhouse Castle Hill is through the Windsor Road gate. Due to limited parking, public transport is encouraged.
