The workshop is recommended for school-aged children, ages 5–12. Children must be accompanied by a participating adult.
In this workshop led by Akala Newman, a Wiradjuri/Gadigal multidisciplinary performer and songwriter, families will be guided through creative exercises to develop a unique song concept, to think about the powerful meaning of words and how we can express our ideas and experience through song.

Akala Newman is a Wiradjuri/Gadigal performer, songwriter, educator and cultural producer whose artistry includes cultural care practices.
Newman uses performance and lyric writing as a platform to re-vision and capture the power of the First Nations female to help create a better quality world.
