As the full moon of April rises over Sydney Harbour, sample natural wines from local and international producers at Sydney Observatory.

Powerhouse and Lo-Fi Wines will bring together local winemakers and sommeliers to share insights on sustainable viticulture and a natural approach to winemaking.

Program

Meet the Winemakers and Sommeliers 5–9pm

Lo-Fi Wines will be sharing 10 natural wines from wineries including, Gut Oggau (Austria), Saep (South Australia), A.R.C. Wines (Victoria) and Château Acid (New South Wales). You will have the chance to talk with sommeliers and winemakers.

Talks
6pm Tiffany Gardoll and Shanteh Wale in-conversation with Xinyi Lim, Powerhouse Food Program Manager will discuss viticulture in Sydney, winemaking in your backyard and wine notes that Sydneysiders love. This discussion is inspired by the Sydney Observatory’s historic grapevine and the site’s history of winemaking.

7pm Farmer and winemaker Dave Gartelmann (Saep Wines, South Australia) and James Audas (A.R.C. Wines, Victoria and co-owner of Lo-Fi Wines) will discuss the importance and meaning of terroir in winemaking and how it has shaped both their respective wines.

Night Sky Viewing – Sydney Observatory Telescope 5–9pm

Observe the night sky through Sydney Observatory’s historic telescopes and hear about planetary features in the autumn skies.

Grazing plates 5–9pm

Sydney caterer Aplenty will be serving a range of their loaded focaccias and grazing boxes including homemade pickles using seasonal vegetables and cheeses sourced from Australian makers.

Powerhouse Shop 5–9pm

A range of wine travel books, picnic blankets, baskets, cheese knives and platters will be available to pair with Lo-Fi Wines.
