Powerhouse Academy: Plants for Space
What will we need to sustain us on the Moon? And what legacy will we leave there? This hands-on workshop explores the intersection of humans, technology, sustainability and plants in off Earth exploration. Guided by researchers from the ARC Centre for Excellence in Plants for Space, students will learn how to genetically engineer plants for zero waste and make a space salad for lunch. Participants will take inspiration from art in space, such as the Gemini space suits and the Golden Record, to create their own design they would like placed on the Moon’s surface.
