Sydney Observatory

Join artist and photographer Meng-Yu Yan for a shadow puppet and photography workshop at Sydney Observatory after dark. The workshop will guide participants through crafting shadow puppets and using light and photographic techniques to bring them to life.

Practitioner

Meng-Yu Yan 颜梦钰 is a multimedia artist who blends digital photographic methods with analogue manipulation, sculpture, time-based mediums and installation. Infused with Daoist philosophy and a love of darkness, the artist amalgamates shadows, mirrors, light, glass and water to conjure visual dreamscapes. Their work has been featured in over 40 exhibitions across Australia, China, Mexico and France, including their recent presentation Double Witness at the Australian National University's, Australian Centre on China in the World.
