PHIVE

Design and create puppets for digital content with artist and musician Kalanjay Dhir in this free 3-day workshop at PHIVE in Parramatta.

Inspired by Dhir’s latest work Coming Down, students will collaborate in the hand-building of puppets to be used as physical avatars in a devised short film. Students will look at puppetry as a precursor to cartooning, augmented reality and avatarisation in games and online spaces.

Artist

Kalanjay Dhir is a Sydney artist and musician whose work draws on popular culture, sci-fi and history using sculpture and video. He is creating a body of work exploring the potential of physical avatars as didactic and speculative tools for beyond human thinking. As a musician, Dhir performs under Uncle Kal and in the group Slim Set alongside DJ Altro.
